Island hopping to Bulandet from Bergen
- Season18. June - 24. Aug.
- Departure pointBergen Strandkaiterminalen
- Duration12,5 hours
Delivering the mail – and you as well! Join this excursion to visit an archipelago with narrow sounds, traditional fishing villages, small settlements and islets and skerries in a unique coastal landscape.
The 'Stjernsund' mail boat is important to the people who live on the islands. Besides school pupils, ordinary passengers (and mail of course), the boat is also used for transporting sheep. The boat calls at the quay where the mail is delivered or where passengers embark and disembark, meaning that you get to experience islands such as Lågøy, Litle Færøy, Ytrøygrend and Indrøy. The final stop on the route is the fishing village of Gåsvær in the far west and home to 14 permanent residents who make their living from fishing, operating passenger boats, agriculture and tourism.
The excursion also takes you across the open ocean to the island group of Bulandet in Askvoll, Norway's westernmost inhabited community. Here, you will have time here for excursions on your own. Take the hiking trail up to the viewpoint of Halsøyhågen for a view across the many islands.
From Bulandet, the excursion continues by bus to Værlandet, where you can take the ferry over to Askvoll and then the express boat back to Bergen.
Prices and departures
Quoted prices apply to online bookings. An additional charge may apply when purchasing tickets on a bus or ferry.
